Dr.
Cain utilizes numerous techniques in rendering chiropractic
care. Chiropractic manipulative therapy (the chiropractic
“adjustment”), is supported through adjunctive
therapies such as soft tissue mobilization (such as
myofascial release or resistive stretching), rehabilitative
and stabilization exercises, electrical muscle stimulation,
therapeutic ultrasound, heat/ice, and orthoses, among
many others. Patients can expect a thorough examination
and evaluation, which will address his or her orthopedic,
neurological, biomechanical, postural, and general muscular
and fitness status.
A
variety of treatment methods and modalities may be employed
to help the body re-establish proper function. Many
conditions respond very well to chiropractic care, and
it is not pain alone that brings people to see their
chiropractic physician. Many “pain-free”
patients experience improved overall health, energy,
flexibility, sleep, among other benefits, as a result
of chiropractic care. This is due in part to the “holistic”
nature of chiropractic treatment. The doctor of chiropractic
treats the body “as a whole,” and does not
focus strictly on the symptom or complaint that brought
a patient to seek care. Your chiropractor may address
your nutrition, fitness and exercise level, daily activities
and stressors and many other aspects of your daily life
in your chiropractic treatment plan.
There
are conditions or illnesses that do not respond to chiropractic
care, or for which additional treatment is necessary
beyond the care received through one’s chiropractic
physician. As a physician, Dr. Cain is highly trained
to diagnose and manage case for even those conditions
that he is unable to treat through chiropractic care.
If he is unable to treat your particular case, he will
refer you to a practitioner qualified to deliver the
care necessary. Dr. Cain may also co-manage your case
with one or more other physicians, should prescriptive
medication, etc. be necessary for your fullest recovery.
What
conditions are treated?
It is a common misconception that chiropractors deal
only with spine or with back pain. Though chiropractic
is very effective in the treatment of conditions such
as low back pain, neck pain and headaches, many other
common ailments respond very well to chiropractic care,
and Dr. Cain regularly treats patients for such complaints
as:
FOOT
PROBLEMS: such as over-pronation or “fallen
arches,” plantar fasciitis and heel pain, sprained
ankles, metatarsalgia.
GAIT
DYSFUNCTION: improper use of muscles or over-stressing
of joints and tissues do to improper walking mechanics.
HIP
and KNEE INJURIES: including muscle strains,
joint sprains, post-operative rehabilitation, etc.
SPINAL
DISORDERS: sciatica, disc injury, osteoarthritis,
scoliosis, leg length inequality, sprains/strains, recurrent
pain.
TMJ
DISORDERS: Temporomandibular joint (jaw joint)
pain, dysfunction or headaches.
SHOULDER
DISORDERS: tendonitis, bursitis, impingement,
rotator cuff strains, sprains, instability.
ELBOW
and WRIST PROBLEMS: carpal tunnel syndrome,
tennis elbow, sprains/strains.
COMMON
DISORDERS: arthritis, fibromyalgia, myofasciitis,
and other pain disorders, can be managed or co-managed
by the chiropractic physician. Thyroid dysfunction,
diabetes, hypertension, and other such conditions are
co-managed through chiropractic nutritional and fitness
counseling. Allergies, sinusitis, and asthma sufferers
often experience decreased frequency or intensity of
episodes through chiropractic treatment and adjustments.
PEDIATRICS:
Children do very will under chiropractic care; parents
often report decreased colic, asthma attacks, ear infections,
growing pains, etc. In addition, many injuries or conditions
that can cause lifelong problems can be caught early
through proper diagnosis, and may be treatable through
chiropractic care or through referral. Conditions such
as scoliosis are often progressive, and the progression
of the disorder can be slowed or arrested if detected
early. Because their skeletal and muscular systems are
not fully developed, children (particularly active children
or those involved in sports) are susceptible to injuries
such as slipped capital femoral epiphysis or spondylolisthesis
that can be treated if detected, but if untreated can
cause many problems when the skeleton matures. Your
chiropractor is highly trained in detecting and managing
such conditions.
GERIATRICS:
Osteoporosis, arthritis, etc. Your chiropractor can
help manage such conditions to help you keep as active
as possible. |
