Chiropractic practice traditionally treats injury and illness without the use of drugs or surgery. Dr. Cain became a chiropractor because of his belief in the resilience of the human body in responding to injury and disease. It is commonly asserted that “once you see a chiropractor, you have to keep going back.” Dr. Cain does not hold this assertion as true. His number one goal in the treatment of patients is to improve the body’s ability to help itself without the need for intervention. In other words, if a person seeks care because of an ailment or affliction, Dr. Cain’s treatment focuses on restoring the body’s ability to recuperate and maintain its health, rather than rely on treatment for relief. Though initially regular treatments may be necessary to reach that point, it is his goal that chiropractic care be voluntary because of its health-enhancing effects rather than necessary because a person is in pain without his or her “adjustment.” Ergonomic evaluation, nutritional and fitness counseling, and exercise prescription, along with chiropractic adjustments and various soft tissue and massage therapies, are employed to help reach this goal. The patient may choose the goals of his or her care; Dr. Cain is the resource with the training to aid the patient in restoring his or her best health.
